This wall was part of the site on which the baroque castle was built. When the renaissance castle was demolished in the 18th century, two curved retaining walls were built in the moat. The space in between was filled with earth and served as an access road to the site. The two-storey building on the left was originally part of one of two guardhouses. There is no evidence indicating how the downstairs room was used, i.e. as a dungeon or for access to the moat.
